Dear Team Jordan Families,
We are off to a great start!
The first few weeks of school are all about learning our routine, rules,
and roles.
It will take a little time for us all to get on track with
our routine. Fortunately, the children are quickly learning our schedule and
how we function on a daily basis as a team. We will discuss homework and the agenda book
during parent seminar.
In order for Team Jordan to have a successful year we have
established one main rule:
We will not stop
other students from learning.
In order to agree upon a rule, first we all had a chance to
write down what each of us as individuals thought the rules should be. I then posted a sign stating the above
rule. We talked about each of our
individual rules and decided that they all fit under the category of not
stopping others from learning. We also
highlighted that we would all need to be
safe, be responsible, and be respectful in order to follow our main
rule.
We are working on developing our roles as “players” on Team
Jordan. The students are learning their
positions. As players they will learn
their individual strengths and weaknesses.
They will come to school ready to work hard and play hard. Each player will feel like part of the
team. He/ she will feel safe to try “new
plays.” We will practice every day.
My job as their coach is to teach them the “plays” and give
corrections or feedback as necessary. Also, I will assess their abilities and
interests and use that information to help coach them. It is my hope that each of our players feels
challenged every day, because without challenge there is no improvement.
Families play a very important role on this team. Your job is to make sure your child comes to
school each day prepared for the challenges in front of them. Please
communicate with me as questions or concerns arise. You know your child better than anyone. We will work together to cheer and encourage
our players to take risks and think of plays on their own.
I look forward to seeing you all at parent seminar on September
16th at 6pm. Thank you very
much for your support as we begin our “season” together.
Mrs. Jordan
Our team blog will be updated weekly by students and myself.
